Nzonzi moves to Stoke - Goodwillie out on loan
Steven Nzonzi
STEVEN NZONZI
David Goodwillie
DAVID GOODWILLIE
So as the summer transfer window closes, a last minute deal has seen want away Steven Nzonzi make a move to Stoke, while David Goodwillie has gone on a half season loan to Crystal Palace. The Nzonzi deal is reported to be worth around £3million and probably inevitable - but it looks like Martin Olsson remains a Rover .
Steve Kean completed his summer signings with three more to make it a round dozen incommers. The final group include Poland international goalkeeper Grzegorz Sandomierski and Portuguese duo Diogo Rosado and Nuno Henrique. The keeper comes on a season-long loan from Genk, with Diogo and Nuno agreed three-year deals at the club. The final group of new boys will have joined up too late to be eligible for the tough trip to Leeds United, but with an International break coming up next - there should be plenty of time to work with the new squad ahead of the trip to Bristol City on 15th September. (31st August 2012)

All Rhodes -

lead to Blackburn

Striker signs in multi-million pound deal
Jordan Rhodes.
JORDAN RHODES
Blackburn Rovers have agreed deal with Huddersfield Town worth a club record £8m for striker Jordan Rhodes on a five-year deal. He's been a long term target, and the reported fee is in line with that paid for Andy Cole some years ago. Rhodes was the top scorer in England last season, with 36 league goals to his credit. Steve Kean told the clubs official website: “Jordan is a top class striker and we are absolutely delighted to bring him in. His record is there for all to see and I believe he can play a major role in our drive for promotion back to the Premier League.”

The striker started out at Barnsley, then moved to Ipswich Town. He joined Huddersfield Town in July 2009 and scored on his debut. rovers.co.uk report that " He registered a phenomenal 40 goals in all competitions, which included three hat-tricks, all four goals in a 4-4 draw with Sheffield Wednesday and five in a 6-0 whitewash over Wycombe Wanderers. He helped Huddersfield secure promotion via the play-offs and was rewarded with the League One Player of the Year award." It's believed that the 22year old was also on the radar for Manchester United and Celtic. He represented Scotland at both U-21 level and as a full international.

Jordan should already be a favourite with Rovers fans, having scored against Burnley as they beat the Clartes 2-0 at the weekend. It's understood that he'll go straight into the Rovers squad who travel to Elland Road on Saturday. Exciting times. (30th August 2012)

Mark Bunn-

moves to Norwich

Keeper now a Canary
Mark Bunn
MARK BUNN
Blackburn Rovers have parted company with 27-year-old keeper Mark Bunn. The East Anglian side have been linked with the stopper fro some weeks and the move will see him return to the Premier League. He joined Rovers from Northampton in 2008 but made few appearances - 15 appearances in total - never letting the side down when called into action. Mark told the BBC "I'm delighted to be here to start a new challenge and I'm looking forward to it. It's a good time for Norwich - it will be a tough season and I think we'll do well." (29th August 2012)
In other news...
Various news sources reporting that Rovers summer long quest to sign striker Jordan Rhodes from Huddersfield Town may be reaching a happy conclusion. Andy Cryer writes on The Lancashire Telegraph website: " Blackburn Rovers have had a bid accepted for Huddersfield hot-shot Jordan Rhodes - having already secured the services of Diogo Rosado. Rovers will hope to have the striker on board in time for Saturday’s tough trip to Leeds United, with the player due to undergo a medical at Brockhall tomorrow." Of course the transfer window closes on Friday so there could be plenty of last minute activity (29th August 2012)

No cup run for Rovers
Capitol One Cup
Rovers made 7 changes from the side who beat Leicester City in the Championship at the weekend. Perhaps the match next Saturday at Leeds United was more important than progress in this seasons Capitol One cup competition. The chances for Blackburn were few, and the home side seemed to have a plan and a more committed side - but at the break it was all square at Stadium MK. It only took six minutes after the restart for Luke Chadwick to claim his first of the night and make things even more difficult for the visitors. Steve Kean brought on all his subs, but it was MK who scored again through Chadwick as Jake Kean failed to stop his close range shot. Sub David Goodwillie scored his first of the season as he did in the same competition last term, but it wasn't enough. A very short stay in the Capitol One Cup, and the league can now take its place as the most important Steve Kean told the clubs official website: "I never thought we played well. We were too predictable. It was an opportunity for some players who haven't had as many minutes as others. They got the chance and it was up to them to take it. I just feel that with the younger players it was their opportunity to push for a first team start but they didn't grasp it. I'm disappointed for the supporters who came down, I'm sure they expected us to win as I did. We make no excuses, the team that was selected on the night was good enough to get us through to the next round." (28th August 2012)

Back to back wins - 3 undefeated & up to 3rd!

Two classy goals - one in each half, and Rovers celebrated back to back wins, and are undefeated in three games. Again not a great overall performance - but one that continued the great start to the Championship season. In a half largely controlled by the visitors Jason Lowe helped set up Nuno Gomes who calmly slotted home his first goal for Rovers just past the half hour. But ten minutes into the second period former Fleetwood man Jamie Vardy claimed the equaliser for his new side, and the Foxes seemed to be even more in control. They looked to have taken the lead when Vardy celebrated again - but was ruled off-side. Rovers 'veteran' Morton Gamst Pedersen showed some of his old class when he found the winner with twelve minutes left, and produced a walking stick as he celebrated. A reference to comments made by Blackburn's Global adviser suggesting that the player was well past his best. The goal and celebration got the biggest cheer of the day. Again less than 14 thousand came to Ewood, and the atmosphere over all seemed subdued, and Rovers Manager Steve Kean admitted they could do better. Speaking on RADIO ROVERS he said: "I think it is a massive win, I think there were times when I didn't think we did particularly well. But when you've got that quality in the squad that can pick out a special moment and have that required skill then it is always going to help. I know we can do better, but you've got to take things into perspective, we were up against the bookies favourites to win the league and I think we've played a lot of good stuff and it is an important three points. I said this last week, I don't think we are there yet, we are improving, there's more to come." The win saw Blackburn move up to third place in the league - level on points with second place Sheffield Wednesday. Next up it's a trip to MK Dons on Tuesday for the League Cup, before Elland Road, and Leeds United next weekend back in the Championship. (25th August 2012)

Blackburn Rovers 1

- 0 Hull City

First win - best start for 12 years
Colin Kazim-Ricgards
COLIN KAZIM-RICHARDS
Colin Kazim-Richard made it two in two with his 76th minute strike being enough for Rovers first win in their first home game of the season. It was also watched by one of the smallest crowds to witness a home league game for many years, and it was a match of few chances. The stats show a very even game, with possession shared and shots on target just 5 a piece, but the three points is probably all that matters. Add to that a clean sheet, and a massive jump from 13th to 4th place in the table, and the quest for a return to the Premier League looks a little more hopeful. The only down side was the injury to the on loan Galatasaray forward, with Kazim-Richards limping off and looking likely to miss the next few game. Blackburn manager Steve Kean told reporters: "The thing that I'm focusing on is wins and clean sheets. We've managed to get a really good point on Saturday, a clean sheet today, scored a goal and I'm sure by the time we get another couple of victories the fans will be happy."
It's back to Ewood Park on Saturday with Leicester City the next visitors. The lost to Charlton midweek and currently stand 9th. Full Coverage from RADIO ROVERS across Blackburn on 1404 am and worldwide via the Rovers Player at rovers.co.uk (22nd August 2012)

Just a point from first Championship test
Colin Kazim-Ricgards
COLIN KAZIM-RICHARDS
Blackburn Rovers traveled to Ipswich town for their first Championship game in over a decade, and despite not having the brightest of starts it was the visitors who took the lead after 20 minutes. Morten Gamst Pedersen with the first corner of the match, and Scott Dann heading on to provide Kazim-Richards with the perfect ball for his first Blackburn Rovers goal of the season. But Ipswich put Rovers under pressure before the break and continued to test their defense after the interval. Then with less than ten minutes to go Jason Lowe put Jason Scotland's ball past Paul Robinson to make it 1-1. It was the home side who thought they could find a winner, but both sides had to settle for a point a piece. A hint of tough times to come for Rovers, as they continued last season's inability to keep a clean sheet. The stats show Blackburn with 51% possession, but just two shots on target. On Wednesday Hull City come to Ewood for the first home game of the campaign, and more pressure for Steve Kean. Full coverage can be heard on RADIO ROVERS - 1404 am and via the Rovers Player at rovers.co.uk (18th August 2012)

Rovers Return

-The new season

The npower Championship
npower Championship
Blackburn Rovers start their news life in the Championship with a trip to Ipswich in what will be a touch test for Steve Kean's new look squad. Eight new players have come in to Ewood during the summer. Already sadly Leon Bets is missing through injury - and probably won play for Rovers before the new year.
Despite concerns, there are hopes that Blackburn can get off to a good start with home ties against Hull City and Leicester City to come next week.
Rovers have also been drawn away to MK Dons in the League Cup, and play that game the following Tuesday evening.
Radio Rovers has away commentary via the Rovers Player and is back on air next Wednesday evening from Ewood with every kick of every game. (17th August 2012)
