Rovers made 7 changes from the side who beat Leicester City in the Championship at the weekend. Perhaps the match next Saturday at Leeds United was more important than progress in this seasons Capitol One cup competition. The chances for Blackburn were few, and the home side seemed to have a plan and a more committed side - but at the break it was all square at Stadium MK. It only took six minutes after the restart for Luke Chadwick to claim his first of the night and make things even more difficult for the visitors. Steve Kean brought on all his subs, but it was MK who scored again through Chadwick as Jake Kean failed to stop his close range shot. Sub David Goodwillie scored his first of the season as he did in the same competition last term, but it wasn't enough. A very short stay in the Capitol One Cup, and the league can now take its place as the most important
Steve Kean told the clubs official website:
"I never thought we played well. We were too predictable. It was an opportunity for some players who haven't had as many minutes as others. They got the chance and it was up to them to take it. I just feel that with the younger players it was their opportunity to push for a first team start but they didn't grasp it.
I'm disappointed for the supporters who came down, I'm sure they expected us to win as I did. We make no excuses, the team that was selected on the night was good enough to get us through to the next round." (28th August 2012)
