Paul Gallagher made his first start at Ewood but it
was defender Vratislav Gresko who claimed the one goal winner in a

all the other teams lower down the table also secured important victories

Manchester
United 2 - Blackburn Rovers 1 - BUT It could have been
2-2 .. Brett Emerton found the target for Rovers
- however Dwight Yorke had his goal ruled off side. A true game of
two halves at Old Trafford with the first half giving Blackburn teretorial
advantage - but goals from Ruud van Nistelrooy and Kleberson saw the
reds two up at the break. Paul Gallagher came on for Matt Jansen,
and Nils Eric Johansson for Steve Reid - and the second half was a
differant story. Some great football from Rovers - sadly no points.

Reid included in Republic of Ireland Rep. of Ireland team that beat
Canada 3-0 at Lansdown Road
TEAM: Given (Colgan 82), Carr (Harte 45), O'Shea (Kilbane 88),
Dunne, Cunningham, Steven Reid (Delap 61), Kavanagh (Holland 11),
Duff (Thompson 88), Andy Reid (McPhail 73), Keane, Doherty (Morrison
45). Subs not used: Murphy.
A wonder goal by Damien Duff and two Robbie Keane strikes earned the
Republic of Ireland a somewhat flattering success over Canada at Lansdowne
Road. Damien Duff scored a stunning individual goal for the Irish
Duff's first half solo effort was by far the highlight of a largely
lacklustre contest. (18th Nov 03)

of late and hopes the problem can be sorted out by Dr Steadman. "David

WALTER
SMITH has backed his former Rangers sidekick Graeme Souness
to pull Blackburn Rovers out of their current crisis. If anyone can
get Blackburn out of it, Graeme Souness can. He has that determination
that makes him the man for the job. They had a fantastic season last
time out and Graeme has done a tremendous job there. Graeme won't
allow himself to get too despondent when he knows he has got players
capable of winning games." (4th Nov 03)

GRAEME
SOUNESS has been talking of his feelings after Leicester:-
"I've never experienced anything like this in 35 years, This is a
new experience for me, and I'm finding a lot out about myself as we
go through this bad patch.
"We've all got to pull together and work at turning things around
together, and the spirit in the dressing room is the big thing that
encourages me to believe we can do that.
"We've got players who are playing without confidence at the moment,
but a couple of good results could change that." (3rd Nov 03)
