It looks like the impressive return of Lorenzo Amoruso has been short
lived ... Both rovers.co.uk
and BBCi
Sport report that the latest injury is likely to keep him out
'till next season. They quote the Rovers boss as saying" It's
an almighty blow to us. Our medical staff are currently assessing
the extent of the damage but you've got to be careful with hamstring
injuries" Lorenzo picked up the hamstring injury during training.(29th

Short
& Sheffield again??
The Lancashire Evening Telegraph have quotes from Sheffield United
boss Neil Warnock confirming that his interest in Craig Short hasn't
gone away. The paper quote Warnock as admitting he's unlikely to get
his man - however he says - "Craig knows what the score is. Blackburn
want him to stay and that makes it unlikely that he'll be coming here
... but I'm not going to rule him out. You can never say never in
football and I'm not going to start now."
Only last week (click here) Rovers Manager Graeme
Souness intimated that Craig would be offered another year at Ewood.

urged to head South ... to Spain. BBCi
Sport quote Martin Andreson's Norwegian team mate to leave Rovers
(on loan 'till the end of the season) and play in Spain.
John Carew says "Martin has a great talent, but I don't think that
England is the right arena for him... I think Spain would be much
better for him and I'd advise him to go there." (28th April 04)

Another
operation? Ferguson worry.
BBCi Sport report that Rovers long term injury worry - Barry Ferguson
might need further surgery before he can return to full fitness and
the first team. The website says that "Latest medical reports
show that Ferguson, who dislocated his knee-cap in December, is still
experiencing some discomfort from the injury. ..." They understand
that another operation to remove wires may still be needed. There
were hopes that the proud Scott would play again for Rovers before
the end of this season. That now looks very unlikely. (28th April

What's
another year? SKY
Sport report Rovers Manager Graeme Souness as saying that both
veterans Craig Short and Tugay should be in line for new deals at
the end of the season..
Souness is quoted as saying "We will offer both of them contracts
at the end of the season, they are two proper professionals, As a
manager you want to hold on to them. We will look to strengthen in

3
points 1 goal (Stead)
and 40 points!!
Jonathan Stead scored his 5th in Rovers
colours against Everton (81 minutes) to secure all 3 points at Goodison
Park (3 wins from 3 games). In a game where Rovers did a great job
keeping the Toffees out - and Brad Friedel made some essential saves.
Cole, Stead and Amoruso all had good chances. Rovers now have the
magical 40 points and go in to the Manchester United game at Ewood
NOT needing to win - but 4 in 4 would be wonderful!

Amo for the fight! SKY
Sport report that Lorenzo Amoruso says that he is determined to
show that he can get stuck in to the physical style of play in The
Premiership. Following Rovers win at home to Leicester - the defender
who's missed much of the campaign told SKY "Graeme Souness showed
a lot of faith in me and it was frustrating that my injuries have
meant I have not been able to do much to repay him. Now I am fit again
I have the chance to do that. I am eager to take it." (19th April

ROVERS
WON - Leicester 0! Blackburn
made it two out of two, and won at home for the first time since
last November(Spurs). In a 'battling' but not attractive game
of football an own goal from Nikos Dabizas was enough to secure
the points. It moved Rovers up to 15th on 37 points and another
win could be enough for Premiership safety.
The
game also leaves Leicester nine points behind in 19th place
and a win for Wolves gives both teams 28 points. Portsmouth
beat Manchester United 1-0 and Man City went down 3-1 at home
to Southampton.
Andreson
Howard Bound??
SKY Sports suggest that on loan Stabaek player Martin Andresen will
be going home at the end of the season. Andresen has figured regularly
for Rovers since his move, but SKY quote the Norwegian press as predicting
his return. They quote club supremo Steen Jensen as saying "If
Martin comes home to play for us we will welcome him with open arms.”

Blackburn Rovers Chief Executive John Williams has been telling
SKY Sports News that Rovers Managers job is quite safe at Ewood
Park. Mr. Williams said "It's easy to focus on what's gone wrong
rather than remember the last three years. "We have had silverware,
European qualification, have twice been in the top half of the table
and had a promotion and this is just a difficult year." He also admitted that the club have a strategy IF the worst thing

sort of Header? - FA Probe at Loftus Road
The FA have confirmed that they've asked to see video of the alleged
'head but' on Rovers Jonathan Stead. The incident seemed to have been
missed by officials at the Fulham game - Manger Graeme Souness seemed
incensed by the incident. BBCi
Sport quote Stead in The Sun as saying "We were running back
after a corner, when Knight pushed me and I accidentally caught his
heel. Then he landed a nut on me." And Fulham boss Chris Coleman
admits : "I think Zat put his head into Stead. He made contact

points 3-4 at Fulham!
Rovers earned 3 priceless points in
a memorable battle at Loftus Road. Andy Cole opened the scoring on
22 minutes following a brilliant cross from Tugay. Just 3 minutes
later Collins John scored his first for Fulham, and then again deep
into first half injury time. But Rovers came out the brighter after
the break - and Jonathan Douglas scored his Premiership maiden goal
a couple of minutes into the half (2-2). Lorenzo Amoruso then gave
Rovers the lead again on 50 minutes, before Luis Boa Morte drew his
team level 9 minutes later. But Rovers had the last laugh when Jonathan
Stead scored his 4th for Rovers on 74 minutes to secure the win and
all the points. It was end to end stuff - and Rovers effort paid off
with a deserved win and much needed help in the relegation fight. HEAR

Ferguson
on the way back
Barry Ferguson has told the clubs official
website that his recovery is going well - but the Rovers star says
"I won’t set any targets because I will be disappointed if I don’t
reach them. The idea is to take each day as it comes and hopefully
my leg’s going to get stronger. As soon as I feel right, I’ll come
back."
The player says there's still that
one big step before he can play a competitive game. He'd been ruled
out for the rest of the season - but there is still hope that he might
be available to help in the run-in (6th April 04)

in - Short out (possibly fro the rest of the season) The
independent say that Graeme Souness will turn to Lorenzo Amoruso following
a calf strain which is likely to keep Craig Short out this weekend
- The paper (and website) believe that "The Blackburn veteran
has picked up a calf injury that may rule him out for weeks, and possibly
end his Blackburn career. Short's contract runs out in the summer
and this latest injury puts him in a weak bargaining position as Rovers
prepare for some tough decisions in the summer."

4/4/4/
... Liverpool 4- Blackburn 0!
Rovers conceded 3 in the first 24 minutes
(2 from Michael Owen plus an o.g. from Todd) and then a further goal
in the second half to loose 4-0 at Anfield. They were completely out
played in the first half, and despite better play after the brake,
Emile Heskey managed to put the final one in and rub salt in smarting
wounds.
Only Jonathan Stead got close to scoring fro Rovers on a wet and miserable
Liverpool afternoon. Now the home clash with Leeds is a vital 'must
win' at Ewood. (4th April 04)
