signs for the rest of the season
Norwegian Mid field player Martin Andreson is to join Rovers on loan
for the rest of the season. Last years Norwegian player of the year
agreed to come to Ewood today, and is expected to join the squad this
week. |

Martin Taylor has asked for 24 hours to think about
his move to Birmingham City - and Martin Andresen has returned home
after failing to agree personal terms with Rovers. SKY
Sports report that the Norwegian passed his medical, but SKY
say "The highly-rated midfielder was non-committal on whether
a deal would be concluded before the close of the transfer window,
merely commenting: "We will wait and see."
Taylor seems to be in the same position about his transfer -

Barry Ferguson has been telling the Lancashire
Evening Telegraph how homesick he was when he first moved South.
But the proud Scott also says he "never thought of quitting".
He also talks about the freak accident that's put him out of action,
And the long term injured player still believes that Rovers could
make the top six this season " If we can add another two
or three players then I don't see why we can't be challenging up
there..."We've just got to try and get that bit of consistency and
if we do that then we can definitely be a top six team. Definitely."

Sport quote an interview with Andy Cole in the The Lancashire
evening Telegraph. In it the striker (who has 18 months left on his
contract) refutes rumours of his departure and says he wants to play
his part in keeping Rovers in the top flight. He told the Telegraph
"I signed a three-and-a-half-year contract two years ago and
was happy to join the club and that remains the same today"
.... "I fully intend to honour my contract. I have spoken with
both the manager and the chief executive John Williams recently, who
have assured me that there is no truth to the press speculation regarding
my position at the club." The player also believes that Rovers

opt for Fulham - because the contact one. Alan Nixon writes that
"..McBride is turning down a move to Blackburn Rovers because

Rovers say that Dino Bagio has agreed in principal to return to Italy
where he'll join up with former team mate Ciccio Grabbi. Rovers.co.uk
report that Dino will be in Italy over the weekend to meet with Ancona.
Meanwhile Fulham have entered the race to sign Brian McBride - a deal
that Rovers thought they had all but tied up.

(14 secs) then one from Gresko a minute later saw the Lancashire Derby

Andy Cole opened the scoring (14') with his 250th League career goal
... he'd waited since September to score it. Craig Short came off
just before the interval and 7 minutes into the second half the Wolves
captain (Paul Butler) got the equaliser. Alex Rae then added a second
to give the bottom club in the Premiership the lead. Then in the last
ten minutes, from a free kick - sub Dwight Yorke scored from the set
piece .
Ironically Wolves have been linked with a possible offer for the striker.

Burnley's FA Cup Third Round win over Mansfield Town was soured by
the news that Rovers on-loan defender Jay McEveley suffered a dislocated
knee. The 18-year-old landed awkwardly in the second half and was
stretchered from the pitch. "Jay has dislocated his knee," revealed
Stan Ternent after the game. "The knee is back in place now, but he'll
be out for around 10 to 12 weeks. "It's bad luck for us again and
it seems to be one thing after another. "He'll come home with us and
