Martin Andresen Andreson signs for the rest of the season
Norwegian Mid field player Martin Andreson is to join Rovers on loan for the rest of the season. Last years Norwegian player of the year agreed to come to Ewood today, and is expected to join the squad this week.

Martin Taylor has asked for 24 hours to think about his move to Birmingham City - and Martin Andresen has returned home after failing to agree personal terms with Rovers. SKY Sports report that the Norwegian passed his medical, but SKY say "The highly-rated midfielder was non-committal on whether a deal would be concluded before the close of the transfer window, merely commenting: "We will wait and see."

rovers.co.uk report that the club have made an offer for young Huddersfield striker Jonathan Stead .. and they say that there might still be more signings before the Monday deadline. Michael Gray What a Gray day!
Rovers sign former England international Michael Gray - on a two and a half year deal. The left back has joined Rovers from Sunderland on a free. The player told BBCi Sport "It is very exciting for me, not only to be joining a big club like Blackburn but also to be back in the Premiership," Gray might make his debut at Ewood on Sunday against Chelsea (28th Jan 04)

Homesick once - but now happy ...
Barry Ferguson has been telling the Lancashire Evening Telegraph how homesick he was when he first moved South. But the proud Scott also says he "never thought of quitting". He also talks about the freak accident that's put him out of action,
And the long term injured player still believes that Rovers could make the top six this season " If we can add another two or three players then I don't see why we can't be challenging up there..."We've just got to try and get that bit of consistency and if we do that then we can definitely be a top six team. Andy Cole Cole committed to the cause ..
SKY Sport quote an interview with Andy Cole in the The Lancashire evening Telegraph. In it the striker (who has 18 months left on his contract) refutes rumours of his departure and says he wants to play his part in keeping Rovers in the top flight. He told the Telegraph "I signed a three-and-a-half-year contract two years ago and was happy to join the club and that remains the same today" .... "I fully intend to honour my contract. I have spoken with both the manager and the chief executive John Williams recently, who have assured me that there is no truth to the press speculation regarding my position at the club." Despite news from his agent that the player might be joining Rovers before the end of the Month. He's currently signed to Leeds United, but away on African cup of Nations duty. However his agent Willie Mackay told SKY Sports website that:- "Olembe is poised to join Blackburn before the closure of the transfer window.... Rovers will pick up the remainder of his loan deal, the utility player having joined Leeds from Marseille "

As last nights reports seemed to suggest - Brian McBride has opted fro Fulham over Rovers in a deal to bring him to the Premiership.

Sport independent.co.uk report this morning that Brian McBride will opt for Fulham - because the contact one. Alan Nixon writes that "..McBride is turning down a move to Blackburn Rovers because they want him to take a pay cut if they are relegated. Instead, he is looking at a move to Fulham."
They say that the American will fly in today to join Fulham who have agreed to sell Louis Saha to Manchester United. It leaves Rovers minus the prize of the Striker they thought they'd signed last week. (20th Jan 04)

City have tabled a bid thought to be around £1.5million for Martin Taylor. Garry Flitcroft Former City star earns a point for Rovers at their place..
Early chances for both sides, 0-0 at the break, and then Anelka gave the home side the lead on 50 mins from a free kick. BBCi report that youngster Paul Gallagher has been called up to the full Scottish Squad as the 19 year old makes the leap from Under 21 to the senior squad . Berti Vogts says "I think Paul Gallagher at Blackburn is one who should be coming through. ... He is a young guy, but a good striker. He is very quick, strong and with good body movement. Window Question?? Dino heads back to Italy - Fulham eye up McBride
Rovers say that Dino Bagio has agreed in principal to return to Italy where he'll join up with former team mate Ciccio Grabbi. Rovers.co.uk report that Dino will be in Italy over the weekend to meet with Ancona. Meanwhile Fulham have entered the race to sign Brian McBride - a deal that Rovers thought they had all but tied up. SKY SPORTS say Fulham have entered the bidding at a dramatic late stage and could yet usurp Blackburn with an offer of their own for McBride. The West Londoners recently signed another MLS star performer in the shape of Carlos Bocanegra."

They also claim that Graeme Souness still hopes to beat former Rover Chris Coleman to the signature. In another article SKY report that the Blackburn Manager. They quote Souness as saying "Our chief executive has been speaking to people and more or less tied things up there," (16th Jan 04)

BBCi sport confirm that the club are back in talks with Columbus Crew about signing Brian McBride. BBCi say that the club are back in talks about the US striker. They quote him as admitting to have made "real progress in the last 24 hours" and could complete a deal soon.
SKY SPORTS say that Rovers are 'Set to sign' McBride - They quote a US source as saying "A reported three-year contract worth around $1.4 million annually (£750,000) is to be paid to McBride, with MLS garnering a transfer fee of under $1 million for the 31 year-old US international striker"

They say "Sources within MLS have confirmed that the league and Blackburn Rovers have finalised the sale of Columbus striker Brian McBride to the Premiership club for an immediate transfer." They also suggest that "Although a work permit has not been granted as of this time, his past time in England and the amount of caps McBride has earned on the international level should leave the UK's Department of Employment happy." They report that Birmingham scouts were at the game on Saturday, and have made contact with Blackburn about pushing through the deal as soon as possible. One of the fastest goals of the season from Kevin Nolan (14 secs) then one from Gresko a minute later saw the Lancashire Derby of to a racing start. Rovers Manager Graeme Souness says he's delighted with the response from Dwight Yorke who scored the equaliser to get Rovers a valuable point at Wolves. Andy Cole 250th carrer league goal 250 for Andy Cole - but just a point for Rovers at Wolves
Andy Cole opened the scoring (14') with his 250th League career goal ... he'd waited since September to score it. Craig Short came off just before the interval and 7 minutes into the second half the Wolves captain (Paul Butler) got the equaliser. Alex Rae then added a second to give the bottom club in the Premiership the lead. Then in the last ten minutes, from a free kick - sub Dwight Yorke scored from the set piece . Ironically Wolves have been linked with a possible offer for the striker. Rovers had more chances - but they had to settle for a point (7th Jan 04)

SKY Sports reports that:- Chris Sutton has been linked with a return to Rovers, amid rumours of a £1.5 million bid from Rovers, but Graeme Souness admits he lacks the financial muscle to bring Celtic forward Chris Sutton back to Ewood Park. Jay McEvely Now Jay has his knee put out - a 10 to 12 week injury ..
Burnley's FA Cup Third Round win over Mansfield Town was soured by the news that Rovers on-loan defender Jay McEveley suffered a dislocated knee. The 18-year-old landed awkwardly in the second half and was stretchered from the pitch. "Jay has dislocated his knee," revealed Stan Ternent after the game. "The knee is back in place now, but he'll be out for around 10 to 12 weeks. "It's bad luck for us again and it seems to be one thing after another.
