Berg's the

Boss

Henning Berg to take over at Ewood Park
Henning Berg
HENNING BERG
After almost 5 weeks of searching for a news boss, Blackburn have announced that former Rover Henning Berg is to take over as the new Manager at Ewood Park. Part of the team who lifted the Premier League trophy in the 1994/5 season Berg's Rovers return will see him back in Blackburn for the third time! Now 43, he first arrived at the club almost 20 years ago. He then moved on to Manchester United in 1997, before returning to Ewood Park in 2000. This time Henning helped Rovers back into the Premier League and he skippered the club to league cup success in Cardiff. Over the past year he's been a pundit on Norwegian TV after managing in his native Country. .
The clubs official website simply says "Blackburn Rovers can confirm that Henning Berg has accepted the role of manager."
A 'live' press conference will be broadcast by BBC Radio Lancashire at 08:30 GMT tomorrow morning 1st November .
Initial reaction to the news has been mixed - but the majority of fans seem to be prepared to to give a him chance. Good Luck Henning!! (31st October 2012)

Dramatic late strike secures back to back wins
After Watford Win
Grant Hanley
JORDAN RHODES
It was a frustrating afternoon at Ewood Park, as Eric Black went in search of back to back wins and had to wait 'till injury time before Jordan Rhodes found the back of the Watford net. Along the way Bradley Orr, Jason Low, Kazim-Richards and Rhodes had all had chances - and with less than quarter of an hour left to play the striker had won a penalty. Sadly for him, and Colin Kazim-Richards, it was the latter who chose to take the spot kick - and slipped with his ball finding the woodwork. Watford made it tough at times, and shared the chances before conceding in the 91st minute as they had done in Cardiff in midweek. It turned what had been at times a less than entertaining display into an afternoon to remember with the Scottish International claiming his fifth Blackburn goal since his Sumner signing. Talking on RADIO ROVERS post match, Erik Black praised his side's staying power:- "They (Watford) defend the ball very deep, you need to be patient and they play on the counter and have really decent front men. We had to be patient, we had to be disciplined, and thankfully we've scored at the end. I think today every single one of them deserved the credit because they were really patient, they worked tirelessly and eventually we've ground them down. I thought our attitude was outstanding, even Kaz, after he's missed the penalty, I thought his reaction after that was fantastic. So it is all credit to the players, they've got their rewards today. If it can't be in the first minute, lets make it the last!"
Rhodes also talked to the clubs station after the game, but was typically modest about his goal and his contribution to the team. But the win secured 5th place and Rovers are now just two points from 2nd place in the Championship table. The only downside were injuries to Jason Lowe and Gael Givet, both of who needed to be subbed during the game. (27th October 2012)

First win for Eric Black - Rovers move back into play of places
Grant Hanley
GRANT HANLEY
Wednesday night at Ewood Park - and Sheffield Wednesday the midweek opposition. Rovers had dropped to 13th after Tuesday nights results - and a win could move them back into the top 6. Eric Black dropped Morten Gamst Pedersen to the bench and brought Grant Hanley into the starting 11 - just one change from the weekend draw at Derby. Blackburn started brightly - and within five minutes, David Dunn had crossed to Hanley who tapped in his second of the season. Rovers kept up some pinpoint accurate passing, and looked on top of their game - but just past the half hour mark Dunn had to be subbed with an injury. Rubin Rochina came on and despite still looking in charge - Rovers started to be pushed back by the visitors. They continued to create chances after the break - despite a few good long range shots from Rovers. Paul Robinson was called upon to make some key saves, while the visitors were wasteful in front of goal. Unlike at Pride Park, this time Rovers were able to hold on this time and under Eric Black they claimed a valuable win to move up to 5th place in the Championship. As the hunt goes on to replace Steve Kean, Eric will look for his next win on Saturday when Watford are at Ewood. (24th October 2012)
UPDATE:
Shebby Singh told Sky Sports that an appointment should be announced by the middle of next week. (25th October 2012)

Just a point, when it should have been 3 - but still undfeated away
Jordan Rhodes
JORDAN RHODES

After the long International break Rovers played the first of three games in a week away at Pride Park. Another game with Eric Black at the helm, and the stand in boss rung the changes, starting with David Dunn and Morten Gamst Pedersen. Danny Murphy, who was much critisised by fans in the last game, was on the bench. And it was Pedersen who collected the ball from Colin Kazim-Richards and headed on to provide Jordan Rhodes with the cross that provided the striker with his 4th Blackburn goal. Just over half an hour played. The home side kept applying the pressure, but Rovers seemed to survive despite some 17 shots - 6 on target from Derby. As the clock ticked down, it looked like Black might collect his first win, but with just three minutes left of the 90 Theo Robinson beat Paul Robinson despite the keeper initially making a great save.
So just a point, when it should have been all three and Black gave an honest assessment in post match interviews. "I thought our first half performance was okay, there were decent signs, there was a decent balance to it, but the second half, after 15 minutes, I thought we dropped into that lull which is very very frustrating. I thought that with the players we had on the pitch we should have won the game today and I'm extremely disappointed that we haven't. For the first 15 minutes of the second half I thought we were in control and if we had got the second goal at that point then the game would have been harder for them to come into it. I'm really disappointed, I just felt our second half performance dropped and I'm really unhappy about that." Rovers remain the only Championship side still undefeated away from home this season.
Next it's back to Ewood for back to back games on Wednesday (Sheffield Wednesday) and next Saturday Watford. Tune to RADIO ROVERS from 17:00 on 24th October for all the build up and full match commentary. (20th OCtober 2012)

Big dissapointent as fans return to Ewood
Eric Black
ERIC BLACK
The crowds returned to Ewood for the first post Steve Kean home game, and 17,034 had great expectations! Eric Black decided to give his new system tried out midweek another go, and some dogged defending saw things still goalless at half time. But Wolves could have had the lead within moments of kick off, for Rovers, frustration when Jordan Rhodes went down in the box, but a penalty was not given. Rhodes created plenty of other chances, but was unable to finish. But with just 12 minutes left to play Bakary Sako beat Paul Robinson with a 25 yard strike. Rovers played to the whistle, but couldn't find an equaliser, and the stand in Manager suffered his first defeat. The owners flew over from India and took there seats in the directors box. It's not know if they had meetings with Shebby Singh or Eric Black. The Blackburn boss talked post match about his frustration with the result and the turned down penalty:- "That's two weeks in a row. I'm not saying we'd have gone on to win the game but they're crucial decisions and they're so blatant. That's two ridiculous claims we have had. How they can decide Jordan has fallen by his own means is beyond me. Their boy falls over as well so contact must have been made. I'm not deluding myself; I don't think we did enough to win the game but we certainly did enough not to lose it." Now with a two week International break, the club hope to have time to decide which way to go next in their quest for a new manager and future direction. Rovers are not back at Ewood 'till 24th October for a midweek evening match against Sheffield Wednesday - on Wednesday! (6th October 2012)

No Score Draw - clean sheet & still undefeated away
Colin Kazim Richards
COLIN KAZIM RICHARDS
Eric Black's second game in charge saw only the second clean sheet of the season. The acting manager made some tactical changes and had the opportunity to re-introduce Colin Kazim Richards who came off the bench on the hour mark. If it had been down to chances, Forest would have walked it. Despite early dominance of possession from Rovers, it was the home side who turned things round later and created 17 chances to Blackburn's 5. Paul Robinson had a busy night, and the positive must be the clean sheet after already conceding a dozen goals in the past 8 games. It looked like at least one penalty call was turned down, in what might have been the visitors best chance to get on the score sheet. A rumour ran round Rovers fans during the game that Roy Keane was the man to take over from Steve - but Sheby Singh texted Kevin Gallacher 'live' on BBC Radio Lancashire to firmly deny the story. It's understood that there has been a healthy amount of interest to take on the post vacated last Friday - but Eric Black will still be the man in charge on Saturday. Supporters groups are expecting a BIG turn out as those who vowed to stay away make a welcome Rovers return. RADIO ROVERS is on-air from 11:00 on Saturday morning for the build up and full match commentary plus your post match reaction and exclusive interviews. (3rd October 2012)
