Acting Manager confimed in post on a roling contract
Gary Bowyer
GARY BOWYER
Blackburn Rovers have confirmed that Gary Bowyer will be their first team manager as the club move forward. Having taken over on two occasions last season, and saved the team from a second relegation, many felt that he deserved a chance of the job full time. Rovers’ managing director Derek Shaw told the clubs official website "He has the respect of the players and we feel his in-depth knowledge of working with the youngsters will be of great benefit to Rovers. He is held in high regard in football and we certainly wish him all the best going forward." Gary joined Rovers from Derby County in the summer of 2004 in initially charge of the Under-18s. The new Blackburn boss says: "It is a huge honour and a proud moment for me. I have been at the club for nine years, I know the traditions. The foundation of the club was built on hard work and that is what we need to produce. The supporters want to see the players out there playing for the shirt and giving it their all. We need the players to show the same passion that the fans gave us during our last six games where we just lost the once." (24th May 2013)

Rovers close with a draw & 17th place safety
Jordan Rhodes
JORDAN RHODES
Blackburn Rovers traveled to St. Andrews for their final game, just 3 points above the drop zone and goal difference worth an extra point. Other results could have made the afternoon tense and the first goal went to the home side with Birmingham Ravel Morrison finding the back of the net just before the break. In the second half Rovers looked the more threatening and it fell to Jordan Rhodes to find the equaliser in the 65th minute with a great header. The 1-1 draw was enough to guarantee another season in the Championship and a 17th place finish once Gary Bowyer took over to steady the ship. The caretaker manager told reporters "I thought it was very much an end of season game but in the second half we deserved a goal and we might have nicked the game."
Final Place 2012-13
(CLICK for full table) In a nail biting end to the season, the three teams to drop down to league one were Bristol City, Wolves and Peterborough. Hull City join Cardiff City in the Premier League, and after a 2-2 draw for Bolton (at home to Blackpool) they missed out on a play-off place with Leicester City taking 6th place. It seemed fitting that 'Player of the Year' Jordan Rhodes should score the final goal of the season - now Rovers must plan for next term and hope to retain Rhodes and other key players. The Indian owners will also have to decide who should be in charge at the Ewood offices, and if Gary Bowyer gets a full time roll as Manager for 2013-14
