ROVERS.CO.UK report:-
ROVERS warmed up for their Intertoto campaign with a 2-1 win over Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground. Striker Jason Roberts continued where he left off at the end of last season when he fired Rovers in front on 27 minutes, and turned provider eight minutes later as Robbie Savage scored from the spot after Roberts had been upended. Wrexham rallied in the second half and deservedly pulled a goal back through Mohamed, and despite their endeavours they couldn't grab an equaliser. It was a good night for Mark Hughes' side, Robbie Savage and Andre Ooijer made their long-awaited comebacks from broken legs, whilst new signing Maceo Rigters looked lively as a second half substitute for Rovers

ROVERS.CO.UK report:-
ROVERS suffered a slender defeat at the hands of Arminia Bielefeld in sweltering conditions in Germany this evening. With temperatures in the high thirties, Rovers started brightly in Heimstetten, taking a third minute lead through Andre Ooijer, but the Bundesliga side levelled on the half hour and then added a second midway through the second period. It was a tough going in the hot conditions, but with similar temperatures expected next weekend in Lithuanian, it could prove to be the perfect preparation for Mark Hughes' squad.

ROVERS.CO.UK report:-
LUKE Beckett bagged a brace as Rovers suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Huddersfield Town at the Galpharm Stadium on Wednesday evening. The much-travelled striker scored a goal in each half as Mark Hughes' side slipped to a surprise defeat. Rovers' only goal came with seconds remaining of the ninety minutes courtesy of Jason Roberts but it was too little too late for the side in red and black. Watched on by new signing Roque Santa Cruz, Rovers started with an attacking 4-2-4 formation with wingers Bruno Berner and Maceo Rigters pushed right up alongside centre forwards Benni McCarthy and Paul Gallagher, but it was the home side who had the first chance at goal.

Domination at Deepdale ... PNE 0 - Rovers 3
Rovers final friendly had a happy ending - with a decisive 3-0 win of near neighbors PNE. After disappointment at Huddersfield, Blackburn were much more of their old selves as the gave the Championship side a hard time. And it only took 1 minute before Andre Ooijer put away a David Bentley centre to open the scoring. Rovers dominated play but were still only 1-0 up at the break. Then Chris Samba headed home his first of two in 7 minutes to complete a satisfactory afternoon and a round of the pre-saeson activities.
New boy Roque Santa Cruz got the last 30 minutes - and almost scored with a header that went wide. Mark Hughes told rovers.co.uk "It was excellent, it was exactly what I wanted from the game today. We are seven days away from the start of the Premiership and if you are going to get results in the Premier League you need a good base. Today we showed we have a real defensive solidity to our play at the moment and that is what we need to take into the Premier League next week. "
And Preston Manager Paul Simpson told their website that they were simply "outclassed". He said;- "We passed the ball well, got behind them a few times and got six or seven crosses in but without ever really looking like getting a goal. We were just outclassed by a Premiership side really. "
All three goals came from set pieces - something Rovers failed to have much success with last term .. and perhaps the wide men could have a great season putting the ball in the box where it's needed. (4th august 2007)
