REPLAY
EWOOD PARK
Wed 19th Jan 2005
ROVERS and Cardiff City must meet again at Ewood Park in ten days after the sides played out a 1-1 at Ninian Park this afternoon. It had started so well for Rovers when Morten Gamst Pedersen gave Rovers the lead after just four minutes, but a Alan Lee header came off the bar and in off the back of Friedel to level things up just before half time. Both sides had chances in the second half, but a draw was probably a fair result, meaning a replay on Wednesday 19th January at Ewood Park. (Report from rovers.co.uk)

3rd Rond REPLAY
EWOOD PARK
Morten Gamst Pedersen made it three in three as he scored the third goal for Rovers at Ewood Park in the FA Cup replay against Cardiff City. Rovers took an early lead through David Thompson, but Cardiff equalised through Joel McAnuff to make it 1-1 after 24 minutes. Then Rovers took the lead again as a 'freak' Thompson goal made it 2-1 on the half hour. The Pedersen close range shot came just a minute after the break, giving Blackburn what looked like an unbeatable 3-1 advantage. But Cardiff kept up the pressure, and James Collins scored their second on 53 minutes. Rovers looked nervous at the back, and the last twenty minutes was end to end with a host of free kicks and corners going the visitors way. But Rovers survived and will now meet Colchester on the weekend of the 29th/30th January at Ewood Park

A Bizarre own goal - a debut goal for Jemal Johnson and a first for Dominic Matteo saw Rovers safely through the Mondays FA Cup draw.
The opening goal came when keeper Aidan Davison failed to clear a Kevin Watson back pass - and helped the ball into his own net on 21 minutes ... Just minutes later Rovers made it 2-0 when Jemal Johnson scored his first for the senior side with a cracking 18 yards shot. After the break it was defender Dominic Matteo who added the third as he 'diverted' a Robbie Savage free kick. It could have been four when sub Ryan Nelson had his goal disallowed - but Rovers will settle for a comfortable tie and hope for another home game in the fifth round draw.

TURF MOORE
5th Round

REPLAY
Ewood Park
1st March 2005

Rovers might have had the better chances - but neither side could find the back of the next in the 5th round of the FA cup. The 21,000 created a fantastic atmosphere for the East Lancs derby. So, to quote Mark Hughes Rovers are still "in the hat" for Mondays draw for the quarter finals. The best chance probably came to Morten Pedersen, but his close range attempt hit the shoulder of a Burnley player, and the score remained 0-0. There was more interest in the streaker and the Burnley fan who calmly walked on the pitch from behind Brad Friedel and the was only confronted after he'd been almongst the players for what seemed like a couple of minutes. Burnley are likely to face an FA enquiry as to how the security breach occurred and the fan face a hefty fine or worse.

BLACKBURN PLAY
LEICESTER CITY
6th round at Ewood
13th March 2005
Morten Gamst Pedersen hit the decisive strike, just 5 minutes from time, to see Rovers through to the last eight of this years FA Cup. The prize - another home tie against Leicester City (12th/13th March)
Burnley came with a plan which frustrated Rovers on a night when almost 29,000 fans (7,000 from Burnley) packed Ewood Park. Tugay gave the home side 31st minute lead - his shot taking a wicked deflection off Micah Hyde - who then went on to hit a brilliant equaliser at the other end just 10 minutes later. As 90 minutes and extra time looking likely, it was the young Norwegian who made no mistake with his superb 18 yard shot to secure his clubs place in the 6th round. With Andy Todd suspended, Ryan Nelsen took over the captains armband - and had a fantastic game - picking up one of the sponsors Man of the Match award - with the other going to "The Gamst"!
Radio Rovers post match programme was dominated by dozens of emails from across the globe hailing both Internationals for their workrate, creativity and commitment to the game and club.

Paul Dickov's 83rd minute penalty assured Rovers a trip to Cardiff for the FA CUP semi-finals for the first time in 45 years!
The game looked like it was heading towards a replay at Leicester when Darren Kenton brought down Morten Gamst Pedersen - and after a few moments of consideration, the penalty was awarded. Dickov (who also scored against another former club Man City) made no mistake against Ian Walker. Craig Levein was "hugely disappointed" with the decision, but Rovers were of course "delighted" to go through to Monday's semi-final draw.
